In what has been one of the most trying weeks for CardNation, it appears this afternoon we will begin to take the first steps in moving forward. UofL interim President Greg Postel announced this morning that an interim men’s head basketball coach will be named late Friday afternoon.

This comes two days after Rick Pitino was “effectively fired” on Wednesday morning. The university placed Pitino along with AD Tom Jurich on administrative leave. Jurich will be paid while on leave, while Pitino will not.
There have been many speculations on replacements but the two names being mentioned consistently are current Louisville assistant David Padgett and current Bellarmine head basketball coach Scotty Davenport.
David Padgett transferred into the program from Kansas and quickly became a crowd favorite and floor general while playing the center position for the Cards. Davenport has been a huge staple in the city of Louisville having coached at Ballard High School. He also has served as an assistant coach under Denny Crum as well as Pitino.
Once the official announcement is made this story will be updated.
