Both left-handed pitcher Nick Bennett and first baseman Logan Wyatt continued to add to their list of 2019 preseason accolades, as the duo were both named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Second-Team All-American list.

This marks Wyatt’s fifth 2019 preseason All-American selection, after having already been named a Second-Team selection by both Perfect Game & Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, as well as a Third-Team selection by D1Baseball and Baseball America. It’s not hard to see why since statistically speaking, Wyatt is arguably the best player on the roster. In 2018, he led the team in batting average and RBIs (.339 and 69), was third in home runs with 6, had 63 walks (third in NCAA) and an OBP of .490 (15th in NCAA). For Bennett, this marks his second preseason All-American selection, as he was named a Third-Team selection by Perfect Game. Last season, the junior southpaw went 8-2 with a 2.84 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and had 72 strikeouts over 73.0 inning pitched.

Bennett & Wyatt and the rest of the #4 Louisville Cardinals will kick off the 2019 season in Lakeland, FL against the #20 UConn Huskies on February 15th at 6pm. The home opener is set for February 20th at 3pm against Eastern Kentucky.
