The weather outside was bitter cold but the YUM! Center was full of hot shooters.

The Cards rode Deng Adel’s career high 27 points and 11 rebounds while VJ King, Quentin Snider, and Ryan McMahon all pitched in to help Louisville to a 94-86 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies.  Louisville improves to 13-4 (3-1) on the season.

In addition to Adel’s monster game, VJ King tossed in 16 points, going 4 of 6 from the three point line.  He was joined by Quentin Snider who poured in 19 points while Ryan McMahon’s 10 points helped seal the game.  Snider went 8 for 8 at the free throw stripe.  Virginia Tech was lead by Justin Robinson’s 23 points and Kerry Blackshear Jr.’s 19 points and 12 rebounds.

After Ray Spalding got into early foul trouble the Cards relied on steady play from Adel as well as a huge boost from the bench.   Dwayne Sutton and Darius Perry provided a huge spark for the Cards with some key stops and rebounds.  Ryan McMahon continues to be the engine that makes this offense go.  The sophomore hit several deep threes and had some key steals and a huge block.

The Cards will have a few days off before heading to South Bend for a Tuesday match with Notre Dame. They have not won at Notre Dame in what seems like centuries.

The Irish will be without senior Bonzie Colson who is out with a foot injury.
