Christmas is right around the corner , but the Louisville football team is hoping to get some of their gifts a few days early.   The Cards are set to reel in some key players  during Wednesday’s early signing period.

As voted on in May,  many 2018 recruits will be able to sign early starting  Wednesday, Dec. 20 and ending on Friday, Dec. 22nd.  Those that choose to wait will be able to sign on National Signing Day which is set for Wednesday, Feb. 7th, 2018 and ending on April 1st, 2018.

High school players who graduate early are already allowed to enroll at the university for the Spring semester. With this new rule, recruits will be able to sign financial aid papers in the winter before the February  signing period.

Louisville is looking to hit the jackpot and begin the process of landing one of their highest ranked classes ever.  Below is a list of players that the Cards are expected to sign on Wednesday.  I have included in parenthesis the players who intend to enroll early:

**UPDATED ON 12/19**

Adonis Boone  –  3*  Offensive Tackle

Chandler Jones – 3*  Cornerback  (enrolling early)

Demji Dumervil Jean – 3*  Offensive Lineman/Defensive Tackle

Jared Goldwire – 3*  Defensive Tackle (enrolling early)

Jarek Campbell –  3*  ATH

Jarrett Jackson – 3*  Defensive End (enrolling early)

Jatavious Harris 3* Wide Receiver

Javian Hawkins – 3* Running Back

Jordan Travis –  3*   Quarterback

Mike Boykin – 3*  Defensive End (enrolling early)

Robert Hicks – 3*  Linebacker (enrolling early)

Thurman Geathers – 3*  Defensive End

Trenell Troutman 4*   Defensive Back

Tutu Atwell – 3*  ATH  (enrolling early)

Yasir Abdullah – 3*  Defensive Back

More names could be added to this list in the next day or so.  Recruiting is a funny business and nothing is set in stone until the letter of intent is faxed in.  Even then, there is still a chance a recruit may never step foot on campus.

With a loaded offense returning in 2018, you can see the emphasis that was placed on the defensive side of the ball with this class.  The staff looked to provide depth on  the defensive line which will lose 4 starters this year.

We here at The Crunch Zone will update this story and also provide coverage on the early signees as they become available.
