The 18th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team secured a series victory with a 13-6 win over Cal on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Louisville (20-7, 5-4) scored in double figures in each game of the weekend, combining for 34 runs on 35 hits in the series.

The Cardinals jumped in front in the first inning and never trailed on Sunday.

Garret Pike gave the Cardinals a first-inning run with a sacrifice fly that drove home Lucas Moore. Cal tied the game with a run-scoring single in the third, but the Cards responded with two in the bottom half on RBIs from Zion Rose and Pike to go back on top for good.

Tague Davis doubled home a run in the fourth and Tagger Tyson helped break the game open with a three-run homer later in the inning. The long ball was the first of Tyson’s career.

Cal (15-12, 6-6) hit a two-run home run in the fifth to make it a 7-4 contest, but Eddie King Jr. responded with a two-run shot of his own in the bottom half to stretch the margin back out to five.

Tyson added a run-scoring single in the seventh and the Cards tacked on three more in the eighth. Pike doubled home Alex Alicea before a balk and groundout pushed two more runs home.

Pike and Tyson each had three hits on the day, combining to drive in seven of the 13 runs. Moore and King added two hits and two runs apiece.

Peter Michael earned a no-decision with four runs allowed over 4.2 innings. Ty Starke (1-0) tallied his first win of the season with four outs across the fifth and sixth innings.

Next up for the Cardinals is a midweek road trip to Indiana. First pitch in Bloomington is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
