Among the visitors for Friday’s “Light up the Ville” event there were several very talented offensive linemen, one being Colerain High School standout Howard Watkins. The 6’5″ 280lbs 3* prospect broke down his trip to Louisville.

“It went great, I loved it!!!” Watkins said via message Saturday morning. So what stood out to the Cincinnati, OH lineman? “The love I felt from everyone. The intense coaching I got from Coach K. Also I got to bond with a lot of the recruits I’ve been chatting with on Twitter.”

The current commits in the 2017 class have already been hard at work trying to form relationships and recruit for Louisville, so who stood out to Watkins? “Cole Bentley, Michael Warren, Russ Yeast, TreSean Smith, we all are pretty cool.”

With already 3 commitments this weekend, Watkins said that it wasn’t really an option for him yet. “I talked to Coach K but it wasn’t about commitment. I’m still weighing my options and going through the process.”

As for the next steps in his recruitment, Watkins said he does want to take additional visits and make a decision on or before his birthday. “I will be taking more visits, I want to make a decision on my birthday (October 29th) but if it happens before it will happen before.”

Watkins, who has offers from schools such as Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, and East Carolina, is being recruited by Louisville as an offensive tackle.
