The first round of 2019 All-American lists were released today, and to the surprise of very few, a Louisville Cardinal has made the list. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers has been named a Second-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
In just his second year, the Chatham, IL native has produced one of the best pitching seasons in Louisville history. He lead the ACC in hits allowed per nine innings, strikeouts, strikeout-to-walk ratio and WHIP, with an ERA of 2.80 to boot. As of this publication, his 11 wins is tied for third on UofL’s single season wins list. A proficient strike-thrower with his fastball/curveball combination, his 145 strikeouts on the season is just one behind the UofL single season strikeout record (Brendan McKay – 2017).
Reid Detmers and the rest of the Louisville Cardinals are set to start their postseason run tomorrow, May 31st at 6pm as they take on the UIC Flames in the Louisville Regional. Detmers is scheduled to start on Saturday vs. either Illinois State or Indiana.
