Bobby Petrino has hired Fresno State Defensive Coordinator Lorenzo Ward as his Defensive Backs Coach. Ward is from Greensboro, AL and played at Alabama from 1986-1989 and was named Special Teams Player of the Year in his Senior Season by the Sporting News.
Ward began his coaching career at UT-Chattanooga before moving to Virginia Tech in 1999. Ward coached with the Oakland Raiders for 1 season and with Bobby Petrino at Arkansas for 1 season as well before serving 7 seasons as the Defensive Coordinator at South Carolina. Most recently Ward was the DC at Fresno State where the Bulldogs were # 68 in the country in Total Defense this past season allowing 415.1 yards per game.
