Another round of All-American lists were released today, and Louisville Baseball’s ace made it yet again. Today sophomore left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers has been named a First-Team All-American by D1Baseball. This is Detmers’ fourth 2019 All-American selection, and his third in two days after Perfect Game and NCBWA listed him as a First-Team All American yesterday.

In just his second year, Detmers has produced one of the best pitching seasons in Louisville history. He lead the ACC in hits allowed per nine innings, strikeouts, strikeout-to-walk ratio and WHIP, with an ERA of 2.85 to boot. As of this publication, his 12 wins leads the nation and is tied for second on UofL’s single season wins list. A proficient strike-thrower with his fastball/curveball combination, he set the UofL single season strikeout record with 162 strikeouts, breaking Brendan McKay’s 2017 record of 146.

Detmers and the rest of the Cardinal Nine will take the diamond next in Omaha, Nebraska for Louisville’s 5th appearance in the College World Series. They will do battle against the #2 Vanderbilt Commodores (54-11) this Sunday at 2pm on ESPN.
