University of Louisville senior tight end Cole Hikutini is one of 45 players on the John Mackey Award preseason Watch List for the 2016 season. The award is presented by the Nassau County (New York) Sports Commission and is named in honor of former Baltimore Colts great John Mackey.

A transfer from the City College of San Francisco, Hikutini led the tight ends with 19 receptions for 348 yards and tied for second on the squad with three touchdowns receptions. Appearing in 11 games – including three as a starter –  Hikutini led the squad with an average of 18.3 yards a reception during the 2015 season.

He recorded a career-best four receptions and one touchdown in a win over Virginia and ended the year with three receptions for a career-high 103 yards, including a career-long 56-yard reception in a 27-21 win over Texas A&M in the Music City Bowl.

Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the 2016 Mackey Award recipient will be announced on December 7, 2016 and then presented live onDecember 8, 2016 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
