The University of Louisville baseball team finished off a weekend sweep of Central Michigan with a 7-5 win on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
The victory completed a perfect week for Louisville (7-4), which has now won four straight.
Dan McDonnell secured his 800th career victory on Sunday as he continues to add to his total as the winningest coach in UofL athletics history.
For the second consecutive day, Louisville found itself down in the opening frame as Central Michigan plated a pair in the first.
The Cards answered back though, scoring a run in the first on a throwing error and then a solo homer from Bayram Hot in the third.
However, Central Michigan (5-5) jumped back in front with two more runs in the fourth.
Kyle Campbell singled home a run in the bottom half of the fourth to cut the deficit in half and another CMU error plated the tying run one inning later.
Louisville finally took its first lead of the day in the sixth. Tague Davis put a ball in play with the bases loaded to score Kade Elam, and Jax Hisle followed with the same to plate Alex Alicea to open up a two-run advantage.
The Chippewas got one back in the seventh, but the Cards got an insurance run on a Davis sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Aaron England slammed the door shut over the final 2.1 innings to secure the win. Jake Bean got a no-decision in the start after allowing four runs over 5.2 innings. Jack Brown (2-0) got the win in relief.
Hot was 3-for-5 on the day with a pair of runs scored. Campbell, Hisle and Jimmy Nugent each tallied two hits.
Louisville will now turn its attention to Morehead State on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
