Bobby Petrino met with the media on Monday afternoon to discuss an array of topics. Here are the key tidbits from.
Injury updates
Petrino said of Will Gardner’s knee injury, “I don’t know a whole lot right now. It could be a day-to-day issue.” He also explained that swelling occurred but doctors told him them that the knee was stable. Louisville is currently awaiting results of doctor’s appointment today to determine course of action for the week. This will be a situation we’ll have to monitor
Petrino also discussed LJ Scott’s injury saying that he looked better than anticipated yesterday, doesn’t believe injury is feared high ankle sprain.
Devante Parker again continues his progression and remains right on track for expected recovery time. That would put him at best two weeks away from playing.
Those who have been missed
Reggie Bonnafon is back with the team after attending his father’s funeral services over the weekend. He rejoined the team on Sunday evening, per Petrino.
Though he didn’t play against Florida International. Petrino simply noted that Wide Receiver is Kai De La Cruz ‘has red hair and is healthy’.
Offensive Progression
Like most, Bobby Petrino isn’t happy with the offense’s progression. This quote from him summed it nicely: “Our offense just isn’t good right now. That’s how I feel.”
“We’re just not executing. It’s many different things.”
He also mentioned that communication breakdowns on offensive line have been part of problem for offensive struggles. Expect more shake ups on offensive line as we progress.
Defensive Progression
Bobby Petrino continues to be happy with the way his defense has played. “I always worry about taking away from how well our defense is playing. Our defense is playing really, really well.”
