LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Defensive tackle Tae Thibodeaux signed a National-Letter-of-Intent with the University of Louisville football program, head coach Bobby Petrino announcedWednesday afternoon.
A native of New Iberia, La., Thibodeaux was rated a three-star prospect out of Westgate High. Playing for head coach Ryan Antoine, Thibodeaux, a 6-foot-1, 275-pounder, made an official visit to U of L on Sunday and Monday.
“It felt like home,” Thibodeaux said. “I sensed like the coaching staff truly cared for their players and I wanted to play in the ACC next season. I’m excited about coming to Louisville.”
Playing at defensive tackle last season, Thibodeaux recorded 60 tackles and 13 sacks for Westgate. Earning first team all-state honors, Thibodeaux also added an additional 17 tackles for loss and forced four fumbles.
Thibodeaux was first team All-Acadiana and was an all-district selection.
“We needed to add depth to the defensive tackle position in this class and we did that with Thibodeaux’s signing,” Petrino said. “We are excited that he is joining the Louisville football program.”
The No. 83 rated defensive tackle nationally, Thibodeaux chose Louisville over other offers from Arkansas, Memphis, Nevada, and Wake Forest.
Thibodeaux is the 22nd commitment to Petrino’s 2014 signing class.
