The Cards will host the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center. The Hurricanes are fresh off a loss in its 1st ACC game of the 2018-19 season after falling to NC State 87-82 at home on Thursday.
The Canes got some bad news on Thursay when Dewan Huell was ruled ineligible after the NCAA determined that Huell and Christian Dawkins had a contract. It was big news because the Canes play with a 7-man rotation and without any frontcourt substitutions. Huell started every game in the middle last year for Miami and at 6-11, 220 lbs was a huge presence for UM a year ago. As it is, Miami will take the court for all of 2019 without its big man.
Miami does not own a Power 5 win yet and are at 8-5 on the season. Ken Pom ranks the Canes at 59th and Louisville at 40th. The Hurricanes did drop 4 in a row to Seton Hall, Rutgers, Yale and Penn.
Lastly, Shooting Guard Zach Johnson chose Miami as his graduate transfer destination over Louisville from Florida Gulf Coast University. Johnson comes off the bench and plays 29.5 minutes and scores 13.3 ppg.
