On Sunday, October 18th, Louisville Volleyball will face the Pittsburgh Panthers in a highly anticipated ACC match-up.

The Cards fell to No. 8 SMU in five sets Friday night for their first conference play loss of the season. Despite the loss, four different Cards had 10 or more kills, totaling 64 kills, with OH Payton Peterson leading with 18 kills, freshman OPP Kalyssa Blackshear following with 17 kills, OH Chloe Chicoine adding 12, and rounding out the four, MB Cara Cresse totaled 10 kills.

The Mustangs and Cardinals played evenly on Friday night, but SMU’s 10 aces ultimately led to them being in a better position leading into the latter part of the sets.

Also playing last night, the Panthers reverse swept the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Panthers are led by RS Olivia Babcock, who led the match with 29 kills and 14 digs. Other notable performers this season for Pitt are OH Blaire Bayless and OH Dagmar Mourtis.

The Cards are 21-18 against Pittsburgh since 1981. Last season the Panthers and Cards met three times; Louisville lost in five sets in the regular season, and they met again in the ACC championship, where the Panthers defeated them 3-1. Finally, in the NCAA national semi-final, Louisville won in four to advance to the National Championship.

Louisville and Pittsburgh are looking to claim 3rd place in the ACC following 7-0 UNC and 6-1 Stanford; both the Cards and Panthers have a 6-1 record in conference play.

The Cards will take on the Panthers on ESPN, Sunday, October 18th, at 1:00pm.
