Louisville’s Defensive Line returns A TON of stars, key contributors and young players that are set to come of age. The STAR component really starts with Ashton Gillotte who returns to school instead of the NFL Draft. Ashton finished 2nd in voting for ACC DPOY in 2023 and it stands to reason that Gillotte will have a HUGE 2024 as he plays his final year of eligibilty.

Louisville will also get a boost from Jermayne Lole who finally got healthy and on the field for the Cards for the majority of the 2023 season. But Louisville has A LOT of guys already on the roster who have played a lot of snaps for the Cards in the ACC. Ramon Puryear, Jared Dawson, Mason Reiger and Dez Tell all have played a huge number of snaps, started and made major impacts with the program.

Additionally there are young players who have been in the program that might be on the cusp of more playing time if they can grow into their bodies and have a great Spring/Fall Camp. Young Guys like Tawfiq Thomas, Selah Brown and Adonijah Green have played and showed promise and might be ready to take on a larger role. We’ll also need to see where Saadiq Clements, Micah Carter and William Spencer are after redshirt seasons…. and those guys were all highly rated high school players coming to Louisville in last year’s signing class. The roster Louisville already has at D-Line is exciting.

But….. let’s talk about what’s incoming………. the Cards have some STUDS coming in through the portal and some young ones coming in from high school. Tyler Baron comes from Tennessee with 10.5 TFLs and has played A TON of football in the SEC for the Vols. Thor Griffith is a FREAK from the IVY league and we’ll see if the Harvard grad can translate his productivity into the ACC at the Defensive Tackle position. Also from FIU Jordan Guerad was 1st team ALL-CUSA last year and looks like a guy who should be able to translate in the ACC. The Cards also added high level high school players Maurice Davis and Xavier Porter who figure to go into the development program that Clements, Carter and Spencer were in for 2023.

2024 Position Looks:
