Alabama’s Kevin Steele will remain with the Crimson Tide a day after reports were that Steele would become the Defensive Coordinator with the University of Louisville and join Bobby Petrino’s staff.   The buzz regarding Steele’s declining the offer is with the timing of his arrival with the Cards.

Vance Bedford is interviewing in Austin for the DC position under Coach Strong, tweeted today that he has yet to be hired.  Earlier this year Bedford told assembled media that he has grown tired of moving from place to place as a career assistant coach.  Bedford interviewed for the Head Coaching job with  Tom Jurich, but being a Longhorn Alumni it is assumed that Bedford is a LOCK to join Texas’ staff.  The fact that he has yet to be hired is startling.

Also in the mix is Brian Jean-Mary (Linebackers coach at UofL under Strong).  BJM has yet to be hired at Texas and may be ready to take on Coordinator position, or at least retained by the Petrino staff to coach the Linebackers.  Jean-Mary has recruiting connections and has done a fabulous job with the linebackers while at UofL.  If not Bedford, BJM could be a great candidate.  And if it is Bedford, why not make a run at retaining BJM?  Jean-Mary tweeted earlier today that he is interviewing in Austin and waiting to see if Petrino would like to make an offer.

Tyrone Nix is rumored to be in play for the DC position, and Tommy Restivo said goodbye to the Cardinal faithful today on Twitter.
