Chane Behanan Enrolls in Classes at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men’s basketball head coach Larry Eustachy announced Monday that Chane Behanan has been admitted to CSU, is enrolled in classes for the spring 2014 semester, and will join the Rams’ basketball program to complete his collegiate eligibility.

“I am extremely excited to have Chane enrolled at Colorado State,” said Eustachy. “It is a great fit for both of us. He is a tremendous kid, and I really enjoyed getting to know him during his brief visit to Fort Collins.“

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Behanan was a 2011 McDonald’s All-America selection and a Parade Magazine second-team All-American during his high school career. A first-team all-state selection as a junior and senior at Bowling Green High School, Behanan was ranked No. 27 nationally in the ESPN 100, 21st by Rivals.com, 23rd by Scout.com, and No. 16 by USA Today before enrolling at Louisville.

“Chane is one of most talented players in the country, and he will be a key addition to our program next season,” added Eustachy. “He has excelled at the highest level of collegiate athletics and there is no doubt that he will be one of the highest profile players to ever compete on the hardwood for the Rams.”

During his time with the Cardinals, Behanan played in 91 games with 74 starts and averaged 9.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, earning NCAA Final Four All-Tournament team honors while helping the Cardinals to a national championship run that included a win over Colorado State in the third round of the tournament in 2013.

He tallied five points and three rebounds in 20 minutes of action against the Rams last year, and impressed in the Final Four with 10 points and nine rebounds in the national semifinal against Wichita State before posting a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds in the national championship game victory over Michigan.

Behanan, who was dismissed from the UofL program in late December 2013 for an undisclosed violation of university policy, gets a second chance at Colorado State where he will be eligible to begin the final semester of his collegiate career for the Rams at the conclusion of the 2014 fall term next December.

“I have decided to enroll at Colorado State to continue my education and my basketball career,” said Behanan. “I will take online classes this spring and continue my recovery. I’m truly excited for this opportunity to be a part of the CSU basketball family.”
