Friday night, on the eve of Louisville’s final game vs. Virginia (tonight) Louisville Board of Trustee Chairman Larry Benz issued a statement fully supporting the return of Rick Pitino for the 2016-17 season & beyond.
Here is the full statement:
“I am deeply convinced that the NCAA findings will clear Rick Pitino of any knowledge of the alleged scandal. Our genuine hope is that coach Pitino is our coach for as many seasons as he wants. We join our Athletic Director, Tom Jurich, in our complete support of him.”
Benz’s statement clearly was intended to help reassure Pitino prior to his vacation following tonight’s game. Earlier this week on Tuesday Trustee Emily Bingham had prepared written statements that directly admonished Pitino, Tom Jurich, and President Ramsey during an attempt to force a vote of ‘no confidence’ of President Ramsey.
Personally, I expect Rick Pitino to return to Louisville to coach next season and that’s why TheCrunchZone.com has not had much of a discussion regarding the topic on this website.
