UofL will square off vs. the Pitt Panthers tonight in Pittsburgh. The Panthers are fresh off a 25 point loss at the Petersen Events Center vs. the North Carolina Tar Heels (Louisville’s Saturday opponent).
Pitt is 10-4 on the season with losses at Iowa (1 point), vs. Niagara (1 point), at West Virginia (10 points) and the aforementioned North Carolina. The best win of the year for Pitt is against Saint Louis.
The Panthers have played a very light schedule ranking 344th in the nation according to Ken Pom. Pitt is not a very good offensive team and plays a rotation of 8 players. BUT they are a very good defensive team defending both the interior and 3-point line. Pittsburgh also is able to draw fouls and shoot free throws at a similar rate as UofL has so far in 2018-19.
The Cards are a better offensive team and a much better rebounding team than the Panthers and that’s probably the difference here. However, Louisville must remain mindful of ball security or they will play right into Pitt’s hands.
