Sports Illustrated Thayer Evans reported on Wednesday morning that Louisville’s New Defensive Backs Coach is Keith Heyward.

Heyward was most recently with the University of Southern California (USC) as the Defensive Backs Coach and Defensive Passing Game Coordinator. Last month USC head coach Clay Helton announced that Heyward would not return along with defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox and Defensive Line Coach Chris Wilson.

Keith Heyward played Cornerback at Oregon State from 1997 to 2000 and began his coaching career with the Beavers in 2005 as a graduate assistant. Heyward coached Linebackers at Cal Poly in 2007 and returned to Oregon State to coach the secondary from 2008-20011 with Mike Riley. Heyward then was hired by Steve Sarkisian at Washington for the 2012 & 2013 seasons and moved with Sarkisian when he was hired by USC for 2014 & 2015.
