LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville men’s soccer team will kick off its spring exhibition schedule with a benefit match against Indy Eleven on Saturday, March 22 at Cardinal Park and the proceeds from the event will benefit Family Scholar House.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m., ET between the Cardinals and Indy Eleven, which is a newly formed professional soccer team based in Indianapolis that will debut later this year in the North American Soccer League. Admission to the game is free with a minimum $3 donation, while groups of 10 or more can enter with a minimum $2 donation per person. All group tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at Cardinal Park on game day. Fans attending the game are also encouraged to bring new or gently used children’s books for donation with the proceeds benefitting Family Scholar House.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to begin our spring with this type of benefit match and our hope is that it would be a great event for everyone involved,” said Louisville head coach Ken Lolla. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our players to compete against a professional club and to be a part of the inaugural season for Indy Eleven. It’s also special to increase awareness of the terrific work being done at Family Scholar House while also generating financial support for such an impactful organization.”

To purchase online, fans must enter their Cardinal Athletic Fund (CAF) information or, if they are a first-time buyer, they must create a new account. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium ticket office or by phone at502-852-0120.

Family Scholar House is a nonprofit organization based in Louisville and its mission is to end the cycle of poverty by giving single-parent students the support they need to earn a four-year college degree. By transitioning student parents from poverty to self-sufficiency, they are able to provide a better life for themselves and their children. Indy Eleven was launched on Jan. 16, 2013, to play in the North American Soccer League, beginning with the 2014 season. Originally born under the Indy Pro Soccer moniker, the club officially adopted its Indy Eleven identity in April 2013.

The benefit match with Indy Eleven is the first of five spring exhibition matches scheduled for the Cardinals as they prepare for the 2014 fall season. Louisville will also host Lindsey Wilson on March 30 at 5 p.m., in the final home match in the spring. On April 6, the Cardinals will take to the road for a match against the Columbus Crew and that will be followed by a visit to SIU-Edwardsville onApril 12. The spring schedule will end for Louisville on April 19 at Akron.

The 2014 fall collegiate season will feature the Cardinals’ move to the Atlantic Coast Conference as well as the opening of the University of Louisville’s new home facility — Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
