The University of Louisville baseball team will officially open fall practices with a pair of intrasquad scrimmages Friday and Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The first scrimmage of the fall is set to begin at 2:15 p.m., ET on Friday, while Saturday’s scrimmage is scheduled for 2 p.m. Batting practice is expected to begin 75 minutes prior to first pitch each day and both scrimmages are open to the public.

The Cardinals plan to host intraquad scrimmages each weekend in September and into October before closing the fall with the annual Pizza Bowl series in mid-October. The specific dates and times for the intrasquad scrimmages as well as the Pizza Bowl will be announced each week. Louisville will also host open scrimmages against Western Kentucky (Sept. 15, 1 p.m.) and Indiana (Sept. 29, Time TBD).

The Cardinals enter the fall returning seven starters in the batting order as well as 10 total pitchers from last year’s squad, which finished with a 45-19 record overall after advancing to the championship round of an NCAA Regional for the seventh straight season. Louisville also registered its seventh straight 40-win season and the 11th in 12 seasons under McDonnell.
