Coach Pitino went well outside the usual rankings and prototype for his latest commitment to the Louisville Basketball program, when he offered 5-11, 165 lbs. guard Ryan McMahon from Sarasota, FL. McMahon had only offers from Division 2 schools prior to pledging with the Cards and is unrated by Scout & Rivals.com but has received a 3-star rating from 247Sports.com.

McMahon first came to our attention with Cardinal Authority’s Jody Demling showed me a highlight of Ryan in Louisville’s Press Room a few weeks ago following a Louisville Men’s Basketball game. The suggestion, Jody told me at the time came from ESPN’s Dick Vitale. As you’ll see in the videos below, Coach Pitino heeded Vitale’s advice and watched him in person….on Thursday night Rick Pitino offered Ryan McMahon a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Louisville, which was accepted a today (a day later).

Ryan McMahon will join Donovan Mitchell, Raymond Spalding, and Deng Adel in the 2015 class for Louisville Basketball.
