Louisville, KY (June 17, 2014)- U of L Football Head Football Coach Bobby Petrino and his family are thrilled to announce the establishment of the Petrino Family Foundation with a press conference this week at Kosair Children’s Hospital. The family will announce a large gift to the Children’s Hospital Foundation for a project benefiting Kosair Children’s Hospital, with Coach Petrino focusing his commitment on the hospital’s Trauma unit.

In addition, the Petrino Family Foundation will support two other recipients. The Petrino Family Foundation Scholarship Fund will provide talented students who cannot afford the cost of college tuition, the opportunity to attend U of L. The Foundation will also make a donation towards the purchase of new band uniforms for the University of Louisville Marching Band.

“Louisville has always been home to me and my family, and we are committed to giving back to this city and the University,” said Petrino.

Kelsey Petrino Scott, Bobby’s oldest daughter, will serve as executive director of the Foundation, with other family members also having direct involvement.

“I could not be more excited for the opportunity to get involved with the community and to help inspire families to come together, to help each other, and to reach out to those in need,” said Petrino Scott.

The announcement will take place on Thursday, June 19 at 11 am in the main lobby of Kosair Children’s Hospital located at 231 E. Chestnut St. The Petrinos will discuss their mission and details of their commitments to the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Also in attendance will be members of the U of L Marching Band, and Dr. Mike Mardis, Dean of Students and Vice President of Student Affairs at U of L.
