Jeff Brohm inherited two STUD running backs from the 2022 roster that was built around running the football. The Cards had four consecutive Top 30 rushing offenses in the country under Scott Satterfield.
To start Louisville is led by returnee Jawhar Jordan. The former Syracuse transfer is on the Doak Walker Award Watch List and had 815 yards last year for the Cards. Jawhar is a dynamic runner who will also return kickoffs.
My Projected Depth Chart
- #25 Jawhar Jordan (5-10, 185, R-Jr.)
- #4 Maurice Turner (5-10, 190, Soph.)
- #23 Isaac Guerendo (6-1, 225, Sr.)
- #22 Keyjuan Brown (5’10, 205, Fr.)
- #33 Mario Agyen (5’7, 190, Jr.)
Maurice Turner was showcased late in the 2022 season (as Tiyon Evans, Trevion Cooley & Jalen Mitchell no longer were available) and Maurice took full advantage. Turner had 31 carries for 160 yards in the Fenway Bowl. Both Jawhar Jordan and Maurice stand to see an increase in carries, but a SIGNIFICANT number of touches in the passing game in the Jeff Brohm offense. Jordan & Turner figure to be the MAIN ball carriers for Louisville Football in 2023.
Jeff Brohm went into the portal and found Isaac Guerendo from Wisconsin. Isaac is a 4-year player at Wisconsin and was the Badgers 3rd leading rusher and had 385 yards and 5 TDs. Guerendo provides the Cards with a ‘change of pace’ back packing 225 yards and will play a critical situational role.
From the high school ranks Atlanta RB Keyjuan Brown joined the Cards this offseason. Keyjuan was the #34 running back in the 2023 class according to 247Sports.com. Brown was the 2022 Player of the Year in his Region and rushed for 2706 yards and 31 TDs while averaging 11.37 ypc.
