The search to replace Kevin Keatts, who left the Cards to become the head coach of UNC-Wilmington (announced during the NCAA Tournament) has come to a close with news that Indiana’s Kenny Johnson will join Rick Pitino at Louisville.

Kenny Johnson has a reputation as an outstanding recruiter and has worked for the demanding Tom Crean.  Johnson was with Crean and the Hoosier for 2 seasons and the Cards fought off competition both from Indiana and Maryland to gain Johnson’s employment.

Johnson is a Maryland alumnus (1999) and has developed his reputation in the high school ranks before joining Towson prior to his move to Indiana.  Coach Johnson now steps into the place of the very effective Kevin Keatts and the hire is extremely important to Rick Pitino and Louisville basketball’s future.

More to come on the hiring of Johnson as it becomes available.
