Louisville Baseball’s Road to Omaha is now a known path.  The Cards will Host a Double Elimination Pool of Kentucky, Kent State, and Kansas this weekend starting Friday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Kentucky vs. Kansas will kick things off at 2:00 Friday.

Louisville vs. Kent State will follow at 6:00 Friday.

The two winners & two losers of both games will play on Saturday before the deciding games on Sunday.

The winner of the Louisville Region will play the winner of the Tallahassee Region in a Best of 3 Series for a chance to advance to Omaha.

The Division I NCAA Selection Committee released the field of 64 teams for the 2014 NCAA Baseball Championship on Monday afternoon and the Louisville Regional will include the top-seeded Cardinals, No. 2 seed Kentucky, No. 3 Kansas and No. 4 Kent State.

 

Louisville (45-15) will host No. 4 Kent State (36-21) on Friday at 6 p.m., ET, while the Louisville Regional will open with No. 2 Kentucky (35-23) against No. 3 Kansas (34-24) on Friday at 2 p.m. Every game of the Louisville Regional will be televised live through ESPN3 at WatchESPN.com

 

The winner of Friday’s first round games will play on Saturday at 4 p.m., while the two losing teams will play an elimination game on Saturday at noon. The winner of Saturday’s elimination game will play the losing team from Saturday night’s winner’s bracket game in an elimination game on Sunday at noon, with the winner advancing to play the winner of Saturday night’s winner’s bracket game on Sunday at 4 p.m. If needed, the two teams from Sunday’s second game will return for the final game of the Louisville Regional on Monday at 6 p.m. Gates at Jim Patterson Stadium will open one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch for the first game each day of the Louisville Regional.

 

All-session tickets for the 2014 NCAA Regional in Louisville will be available online here (https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/uofl/EN/buy/browse) starting Sunday evening or can be purchased by phone (502-GO-CARDS) through the UofL Ticket Office starting Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., ET. All-session tickets for the four-team, double-elimination regional are $70 for reserved chairback seats and $45 for college students.

 

Fans are encouraged to purchase and pick up tickets in advance or print their tickets at home to avoid long will call lines on game day. Tickets can be picked up at the UofL Ticket Office, located at Gate 2 of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. No tickets will be mailed. Single session tickets, including reserved chairback and general admission berm seating, will go on sale Friday, May 30 from 9 a.m., ET at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium Ticket Office or at Jim Patterson Stadium starting at noon ET.

The 2014 NCAA Regional marks the second straight year and the fifth time in eight seasons Jim Patterson Stadium will host postseason baseball. Along with the 2014 NCAA Regional, which is scheduled to begin on Friday, Louisville also hosted the regional round of the NCAA Championship in 2009, 2010 and 2013 while also hosting an NCAA Super Regional in 2007. Overall, this will mark the Cardinals’ seventh NCAA postseason berth in the last eight seasons and the program’s ninth NCAA appearance overall.

The Cardinals enter the 2014 NCAA Regional having won the American Athletic Conference regular season title, their fifth conference championship in the last six seasons. Louisville advanced to the title game of the American Conference Championship on Sunday dropping a 10-4 decision to Houston. The Cardinals were 29-7 this season at home this season and own a 243-82 record (.747 winning percentage) all-time at the ballpark, which opened in April 2005.
