TheCrunchZone.com has heard several rumors since last Friday that USC (Southern Cal) is courting Tom Jurich for its Athletic Director position for the third time. Jurich is from a suburb of Los Angeles originally (Alhambra) and recently moved his mother from L.A. to Louisville.
On Friday (the same day Louisville announced its self-imposed post-season ban) USC Athletic Director Pat Haden announced that he would be stepping down this coming June. Today Pat Haden has been rushed to the hospital, we hope Mr. Haden recovers.
While Tom Jurich has turned down USC in the past we’re told that this particular instance may be different for a variety of factors including the current climate at UofL.
Today 93.9 The Ville’s John Ramsey, and close friend of Tom Jurich, confirmed on his radio show “Ramsey & Rutherford” that USC was courting Jurich. The Afternoon Underdogs’ (790 AM) Tony Vanetti reported that “An offer is on the table” for Jurich to take over at USC.
There is a power struggle ongoing at the University of Louisville. President Dr. James Ramsey is under fire for a myriad of missteps despite many accomplishments. Louisville’s post-season ban and scandal related to men’s basketball is a small blip on Ramsey’s radar.
How things shake out between President Ramsey, Tom Jurich, Rick Pitino and the entire University is going to be VERY interesting in the coming days/weeks/months.
