Louisville dodged a bullet earlier this month when it’s offensive coordinator and national recruiter Garrick McGee turned down his alma mater and Bob Stoops to be the Oklahoma Sooners Offensive Coordinator.

This time, the Cards may have to hold off the NFL as Dianna Russini of NBC 4 in Washington, D.C. reports that Todd Grantham is the ‘Favorite’ for the Defensive Coordiniator role with the Oakland Raiders.  Russini reports that Grantham and the Raiders are meeting to discuss the role.  The Oakland Raiders have decided to go with Jack Del Rio as its Head Coach, the 5th different head coach for the franchise since 2010.

Last season, Coach Petrino landed Grantham with a 5-year guaranteed contract worth $1 million per season from the Georgia Bulldogs.  The Cards struck out with Alabama’s Kevin Steele (now the DC at LSU) before turning to Grantham.  Todd also brought his brother Tony in to coach the Cards Inside Linebackers.

Louisville’s Defense finished 6th in Total Defense in 2014.  National Signing Day for College Football begins in 8 days and Grantham is Lousiville’s lead recruiter for several prospects and was the 6th highest paid assistant coach in college football last season.

TheCrunchZone.com will follow-up with a report on any developments in this situation and if Grantham does depart a list of potential replacements.
