It’s official: After days of talk of it, Bobby Petrino announced this evening after practice that Freshmen QB Reggie Bonnafon will start against Wake Forest.  Will Gardner was not cleared by team doctors and will miss the Saturday tilt against the Demon Deacons.

Though Will Gardner has responded well to treatment, he has not practiced all week. There was no further update on his status beyond that.

From just my personal perspective this looks like an opportunity where not only Bonnafon could grab the starting position due to injury, but grab it for good. Saturday is a big moment for Louisville Football, it’s a final ‘gimme game’ and now has turned into a massive game and moment for Reggie Bonnafon.

Bonnafon will be making the start just ten days after the passing of his father. Bonnafon played one season at Trinity High School as a starting QB accounting for 32 Rocks Touchdowns through air and ground. His promise shown in limited action against Murray State and Virginia has had fans clamoring for more views of the local native. Now Cardinal fans will get what they’ve wanted, though it’s came through unfortunate circumstances.
