Former Louisville Defensive Lineman Sheldon Rankins fractured his fibula during the New Orleans Saints Training Camp this morning. Rankins who was drafted 12th overall this past April by the Saints has been a standout for New Orleans.
Jeff Duncan for the New Orleans Time-Picayune first tweeted that Rankins went down in Saints practice and that there was some concern after Sheldon needed to be carted off the field following a goal line drill. From there the NFL’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the break and ESPN’s Adam Schefter added the detail that it was Sheldon’s fibula (smaller leg bone outside of the calf) and that the Saints are expecting the former Cardinal to be back in action in 6 weeks and is a candidate to be recalled from the injured reserve.
