In a continued effort to improve the experience for football fans and address traffic and parking challenges on game day, the University of Louisville athletic department will implement changes for parking at L&N Stadium for the 2023 football season.

The forthcoming changes reflect the extensive feedback provided by Season Ticket Members and a third-party partner that provides expertise in parking for large-scale sporting events across the country.

The focus of these updates is centered on parking lots located south of the Central Ave overpass:  Planet Fitness Purple Lots (A, B, C, & D). (Season Ticket Members with Bronze and Platinum parking will not be affected by these changes.)

Planet Fitness Purple Lots (A, B, C, & D) are being reconfigured and divided into five lots, easily identifiable by color, to offer season ticket members a choice between speed and self-park options.

Below are how the parking lots will be re-labeled for the 2023 season:

  • Purple Lot A is now the Purple Lot
  • Purple Lot B is now divided into the White Lot and the Red Lot
  • Purple Lot C is now divided into the Green Lot and the Yellow Lot
  • Purple Lot D is now the Meet to Park area (A staging area where Season Ticket Members can coordinate arrival with fellow pass holders to then proceed to park together in their assigned lot.)

Speed Parking, available in the Purple Lot, will be parked on a first-come, first-served basis and is available only in that lot. Attendants will guide fans to the next available space upon arrival to the lot, filling the lot from north to south. This option allows early-arriving fans to secure a spot close to the stadium and maximizes tailgating space since later-arriving cars won’t need to travel through the tailgate space to park.

A new Self-Park option will be available this season in the White, Red, Yellow and Green Lots. These lots are smaller and allow fans to park in the parking space of their choosing within the lot. Attendants will verify that a fan’s parking pass matches the lot at the lot entrance, and fans will proceed to park where they choose. This option allows fans to easily coordinate tailgating with other groups and permits fans to park in a space of their choosing, within their lot.

Additionally, parking passes for the Purple, Red, White, Yellow and Green lots will move to digital parking passes. This will allow easy transfer to family and friends. Increased wayfinding signage will also be installed to help fans navigate these changes and assist fans to their assigned lot. (Season Ticket Members parking in Bronze and Platinum lots will continue to display physical parking passes.)

A partnership with the Waze app has also been developed to provide fans with the best routes to and from the stadium on a game-by-game basis. The app will include tools and resources to update on planned or unplanned road closures and communicate traffic changes on the route to L&N Stadium in real time.

Season Ticket Members that currently have a pass in the Planet Fitness Purple Lots will have the opportunity to select a parking pass in one of the five new Planet Fitness Lots. This selection process will occur in priority point order, beginning Monday, July 10th. This week, season ticket members will receive an email with their assigned selection day and time.

Following the selection process, Season Ticket Members on the parking waitlist will have the opportunity to purchase a pass in any of the Planet Fitness Lots based on availability. If remaining inventory is available following the pre-sale, all Season Ticket Members without a parking pass will have the opportunity to purchase a pass within these Planet Fitness Lots.

For additional information, Season Ticket Members are encouraged to visit gocards.com/fbparking or contact their representative in the ticket office.

Louisville opens its 2023 home season on Thursday, Sept. 7 against Murray State at 7:30 p.m.
