Louisville Quarterback Lamar Jackson was selected #32 by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. The #32 spot carries a 4-year guaranteed contract with a 5th year team option. The estimated 4 year contract total value is $9,471,823 of which $4,968,598 is signing bonus (spread out over the 4 year contract). Lamar now can negotiate based off that draft slot.
The 2017 #32 pick was Offensive Tackle Ryan Ramczyk, selected by the New Orleans Saints and eventually signed for $8.891M with a $4,606,585 signing bonus. Draft slot values increase each year but players & teams can agree on different values from the assigned slot value on a case by case basis. Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater was selected #32 in the 2014 NFL Draft (after a trade) and would go on to sign for $6,849,502 with a $3,301,456 signing bonus.
Either way Lamar Jackson is set to be a very well compensated individual in Baltimore.
