The last we heard from Kyle Kuric, he and his wife Taraneh were celebrating the birth of their twins in August.  Now we’ve learned from the Euro-focused basketball website Sportando.com that Kyle Kuric will have emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor.   Kyle went to a hospital in Barcelona with a migraine when the tumor was discovered.

From the article:

Spanish team Gran Canaria announced that American player Kyle Kuric will have surgery to remove a brain tumor. The player will have surgery in the next few days. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. Good luck, Kyle.

Meningiomas are a diverse set of tumors arising from the meninges, the membranous layers surrounding the central nervous system. They arise from the arachnoid “cap” cells of the arachnoid villi in the meninges. These tumors usually are benign in nature; however, a small percentage are malignant.

We certainly hope that Kyle’s tumor is benign in nature and that his surgery is successful.  It’s also important to note that Kyle’s father is a neurosurgeon, so Kyle is getting the very best available in all probability.

Statement from Rick Pitino:

“We’ve had some pretty big disappointments in the past few months, but nothing compares to this. Our prayers and good wishes go out for a healthy and speedy recovery for Kyle. He’s one of the finest young men that I have had the privilege to coach and our Louisville family’s prayers are with him.”
