Hiram High School’s (Hiram, GA) Jonathan Greenard committed to Louisville back in June and was recruited by Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham. Jonathan visited Louisville just last week and described the visit as ‘awesome’.

Watching Greenard’s tape it’s clear that Jonathan has really good hands, which can be an asset either at Outside Linebacker, Defensive End or Tight End (positions that Greenard can play). He’s also a LONG player and plays a little taller than his 6’4, 220 lbs frame. Every time he makes a play on offense or defense the argument turns to which side of the ball he would be best suited for in college. Greenard has speed (great get off), size, and athleticism and loves contact. It would be easy to see him in either OLB, DE, or Tight End. Right now I see him as an Outside Linebacker in the role that Deiontrez Mount has played for Louisville this season.

Mount’s OLB position rushes the passer, drops into coverage and is asked to cover a lot of ground. All of which Greendard projects to be able to do very well. On the other hand, Louisville needs tight ends and Greenard can really block, jump, and catch. It’s a tough decision on how to fully utilize this skill set and I’m sure the staff has discussed the plan with him already, but Greenard might be one guy to see how it plays out in Year 1 before fully placing him. I’m a big fan of this commit for the Cards.
