The University of Louisville baseball team lost 17-5 in the series finale at Miami on Sunday afternoon.

Louisville (23-16, 9-9 ACC) had previously secured the series victory with wins on Friday and Saturday.

Despite the final score, it was the Cardinals that scored the first three runs of the day.

Isaac Humphrey dropped a first-inning single into left field to plate Dylan Hoy for the game’s first run. Hoy then banged a triple off the top of the left-centerfield wall to drive in two to make it 3-0 Louisville in the second.

It would be all Miami (17-22, 7-14) from there though. The Hurricanes took the lead with four runs in the second inning and blew the game open with an eight-spot in the third and two more in the fourth.

Humphrey drove home his second run of the day as part of a two-run fifth for the Cardinals, but Miami would stretch the margin back to double figures with a three-run homer in the sixth.

Hoy was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Humphrey added two hits and two RBIs of his own. Logan Beard also finished with a pair of knocks.

Louisville now returns home for five straight starting with Western Kentucky on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
