The Cards were back in Freedom Hall tonight for a matchup against Bellarmine. The Knights have called Freedom Hall their home for a few years now, but it brought a certain level of nostalgia for people like Jeff Walz and Stephanie Norman, as well as many fans.

As I stated on twitter, I don’t care what team you’re up against, holding them to 8 points in one half is impressive and oh boy, were the Cards impressive through the first twenty minutes. Louisville took care of the ball and put forth great defensive efforts to put on a dominant performance. Chrislyn Carr was getting whatever she wanted on the floor going 3-3 in the first quarter and tallying 4 first half steals. As a team Louisville was taking advantage of Bellarmine’s 16 first half turnovers with 17 points off said turnovers.

Louisville started the second half with a 26-point lead over the Knights and continued to pressure the Bellarmine offense. Hailey Van Lith found her shot tonight and went to the bench with 19 points to give some of the younger players an opportunity at minutes. Nyla Harris, Jalyn Brown, and Zyanna Walker all saw the court this evening and had a combined 8 points and 3 rebounds. Olivia Cochran had a nice performance as well leading the team in rebounds with 8 and having 2 steals. Louisville moves to 8-4 after tonight’s 73-43 win over Bellarmine.

The Cards head to Pittsburgh this Sunday for a 2pm tip-off and you can catch that game on the ACCN or on 93.9 The Ville.
