The University of Louisville football team ranked 13th in the first College Football Playoff Rankings of the the 2023 season, the CFP released Tuesday night.
It’s the first time the Cards appeared in the rankings since Nov. 22, 2022 when the cracked the polls at No., 25 after defeating NC State, 25-10, at L&N Stadium.
The No. 13 ranking was the second-highest debut since they cracked the rankings at No. 7 on Nov. 1, 2016 when Louisville was 7-1. They finished that season at 9-4 overall.
Louisville made its first-ever appearance in the rankings at No. 25 during the 2014 campaign.
Louisville, which is 7-1 under first-year first-year head coach Jeff Brohm, faces Virginia Tech on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on the ACC Network.
