Calvin Pryor is a New York Jet selected in the 1st Round by the New York Jets franchise with the 18th pick in the 1st round. Pryor is the 1st Cardinal Selected in the 1st Round since Eric Wood.
Pryor leaves Louisville as a junior with a KNOCKOUT reputation. Calvin is an OUTSTANDING run support safety with equally devastating results in pass coverage. Pryor can blitz, he doesn’t blow tackles, and knocks balls loose for incompletions and fumbles. Calvin is READY and leaves the Cards with 75 tackles, 3 INTs, and 2 Forced Fumbles in just 12 games.
The Jets will provide Calvin an opportunity to compete right away. The Jets currently have Antonio Allen, Josh Bush, Brandon Hardin, Jaiquawn Jarrett, Dawan Landry, and Rontez Miles on their roster at the Safety position and finished 11thin Total Defense with a 334.9 average per game in 2013 and 22nd in Passing Defense with a 246.7 average per game in 2013. Calvin will be expected to compete immediately to start Game 1 for the Jets at Safety.
TheCrunchZone.com will certainly keep tabs on Calvin throughout training camp, OTAs, and throughout Pryor’s Career.
