Asia Durr ACC Player of the Year, Evans Named Sixth Player of the Year

For the second consecutive season, University of Louisville women’s basketball senior guard Asia Durr has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, while sophomore guard Dana Evans has been named Sixth Player of the Year, the league announced today.

Durr, who was selected as player of the year by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel and the ACC’s 15 head coaches, is the first player in Louisville program history to earn conference player of the year honors multiple times.

It marks the third time in four seasons that a UofL player has been named ACC Player of the Year as Myisha Hines-Allen earned the honor following the 2015-16 campaign.

A three-time first-team All-ACC selection, Durr is averaging 21.4 points per game for the Cardinals (27-2, 14-2), which leads the ACC and ranks 13th in the nation, while connecting on 2.9 three-point field goals per game, which ranks second in the league.

She ranks second in program history and sixth all-time in the ACC with 2,343 points, and second in program history and first all-time in the ACC with 360 made 3-pointers.

Evans has come off the bench in 25 of Louisville’s 29 games. She ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.5 points per game while leading the team and ranking seventh in the ACC with 4.1 assists per game. She has connected on nearly 42 percent of her shots from 3-point range, and is shooting 86.7 percent from the foul line.

No. 3 Louisville (27-2, 14-2), the defending ACC Tournament Champion, will be the 2-seed in the 2019 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, NC. The Cardinals open play on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. against either 15-seed Wake Forest, 10-seed Virginia Tech or 7-seed Clemson.
