Members of the University of Louisville 2013 Men’s Basketball National Championship team, along with the Louisville Sports Commission, today announced Rise Above: 2013 National Basketball Championship Five-Year Reunion Celebration. The event will be held June 29 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Fourth Street Live!

All proceeds benefit Aspire Basketball Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports excellence in education, leadership, and the fundamentals of basketball for youth in Louisville and around the world.

The event is an opportunity for fans to join with members of UofL’s 2013 men’s basketball team as they relive their experiences from the championship game. Team members will share their memories regarding strategy along with personal reflections and commentary about that unforgettable game. There will be opportunities for autographs and photos during the event.

“The team has always talked about getting back together for a five-year reunion,” said Luke Hancock, who is coordinating the reunion celebration. “We all feel now is the perfect time for us to gather with the community to recall what a fun and impactful experience we shared in 2013.”

The entire team is currently scheduled to appear on June 29. This will be the first time since 2013 that everyone has been together in Louisville.

“The fans rallied behind this team throughout that season of highs and lows,” said Karl Schmitt, Jr., president and CEO of the Louisville Sports Commission. “From being ranked no. 1 in the country to losing three straight games to cutting down the nets in Atlanta, the fans never lost the faith that a championship could happen.”

Ticket prices range from $20 to $60 and can be purchased at ticketfly.com. Those 12 and younger attend for free. A ticket is required for entry; ticketholders also will be eligible for prize drawings that include championship and team memorabilia
