Former Louisville Guard Russ Smith set an NBA D-League record for points in a single game on Wednesday with 65 points. Russ is with the Delaware 87ers under contract from the parent Philadelphia 76ers (who is 9-62 on the season). The 87ers actually lost to the Canton Charge 140-129 despite Smith’s 65 points.
In addition to Russ’s 65 points (24-42 from the field) the former Cardinal also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
Russ Smith’s play has been outstanding throughout his D-League season, which begs the question of why the 76ers haven’t brought him up to their club……….
