Louisville vs. Indiana Tuesday Night at 9:00 p.m. in the Jimmy V Classic is an offense vs. defense battle.  The Hoosiers have been a fantastic offensive team in 2014 and a borderline horrid defensive team thus far.  Conversely is true for Louisville.   There may not be a traditional match-up with more juxtaposition than the Cards & Hoosiers.

Clearly, Chris Jones & the Louisville Backcourt needs to figure out a way to slow down Yogi Ferrell.  Yogi makes things go for IU and is an all-around fantastic point guard.  This is a big spot for Chris Jones who has played incredible defense on the season, but has yet to find his shot.  The shooting for Jones will come, but the defense must continue Tuesday vs. Ferrell.

Terry Rozier vs Robert Johnson is going to be a battle of Terry going to the lane, and Johnson trying to find open jumpers.  Rozier can’t be slow on a rotation and give Robert open looks.  Defending the 3-point line is a huge emphasis vs. Indiana.

Wayne Blackshear vs. James Blackmon, Jr. is senior vs. freshman.  Blackmon has been outstanding for Indiana so far in 2014….and so has Wayne Blackshear for Louisville.  Blackmon has been on fire from everywhere, so denying James the ball will be a big deal…..also once he has it odds are the shot is going up.  Wayne might have his hands full, but this is a big chance to expose a freshman for a lack of experience and another Big Game for the New Wayne to be on display.

Montrezl Harrell vs. Troy Williams is a mis-match.  Trez needs to play within himself and not get any cheap fouls. If he does, Louisville walks over Indiana at the Power Forward position.

Chinanu Onuaku vs. Hanner Mosquera-Perea is very interesting.  I’d have to side with Onuaku on pure ability here, but silly mistakes by Nanu could swing the balance.  Versus Minnesota and Ohio State Onuaku took himself out of the game early with fouls……I’m looking for improvement here.  If Nanu can stay on the floor Louisville’s shot blocking and rebounding is much improved…..along with its transition game.

The Bench

Indiana has some nice pieces on the bench, especially with guards and wings.  Louisville has an advantage with bigs.  Getting Shaqquan Aaron back would paint a much better picture for the Louisville Bench.
