Louisville is set to honor two of its Football greats during the 2023 season: Ernest Givins & Brian Brohm.

Ernest Givins

The first honoree will be wide receiver Ernest Givins during UofL’s home opener against Murray State. Ernest Givins’ No. 29 will be added to the honored jerseys in L&N Stadium, the 27th jersey to be honored in program history.

Givins holds Louisville records for punt and kickoff returns and was selected in the 2nd round of the 1986 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers and played 10 seasons in the NFL. Givens was a 2x Pro Bowler and All-Pro in 1990. Givins finished his NFL career with 571 receptions 8215 yards and 49 TDs.

As a Cardinal Givins played 2 seasons at UofL in 1984 & 1985 and tallied 67 catches and 1266 yards and 8 Touchdowns.

Brian Brohm

UofL’s second honoree of the 2023 season will be quarterback Brian Brohm. Brohm will be honored October 7th during the Notre Dame game.

Current Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, Brian Brohm will have his No. 12 added to Louisville’s honored jerseys. One of the top quarterbacks in program history, Brohm played from 2004-2007 and still ranks among career leaders in many offensive categories. 

Brohm was selected with the 56th pick in the 2nd round with the 56th pick overall by the Green Bay Packers. As a Cardinal Brian threw for 10775 yards and 71 TDs. Brohm was the starting QB for the Cardinals for its 2006 Orange Bowl win over Wake Forest.
