University of Louisville men’s basketball is slated to play Bucknell in a charity exhibition game supporting the Kentuckiana Friends of V (KFV) organization.
The Kentuckiana Friends of V Classic will be included in the Louisville men’s basketball season ticket package and will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at the KFC Yum! Center. Tip time and TV designation for the exhibition game have yet to be determined.
Single game tickets will be available this fall, and a portion of each purchase will go to Kentuckiana Friends of V. Fans can give donations directly to KFV at kfov.org/support-us.
The legendary Jim Valvano was the head coach at Bucknell from 1972-1975 before moving on to Iona (1975-1980) and NC State (1980-1990). Several members of Valvano’s family members live in the broader Louisville area, including his brother Bob Valvano, radio color analyst for the Cardinals.
Bob Valvano founded Kentuckiana Friends of V as an offshoot of his work with the V Foundation to raise funds that will stay in and directly impact the Kentuckiana region. Besides cancer research, KFV supports other cancer related initiatives including prevention, education and screening.
