University of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm has been named to the Preseason Watch List for the 2024 Dodd Trophy Presented by PNC Bank. The list includes 21 of the nation’s top college football coaches representing all Power Four conferences and an independent.
Managed by Peach Bowl, Inc. and presented by PNC Bank, The Dodd Trophy, college football’s most coveted national coaching award, celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership, and integrity – the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd’s coaching philosophy.
Entering his second season at Louisville, Brohm became the first coach in UofL history to win 10 games in a season and the first to guide the Cardinals to an Atlantic Coast Conference title game appearance. The former UofL quarterback helped produce the school’s seventh 10-win season after the Cards finished at 10-4 overall.
In 2023, the Cardinals raced out to a 6-0 start, which included a win over 10th-ranked Notre Dame at L&N Stadium. After a loss to Pitt, the Cardinals finished the regular season at 10-2 and jumped to as high as No. 9 in the national polls and 10th in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Louisville fell to Florida State 16-6 in the ACC title game and dropped a 42-28 decision to USC in the Holiday Bowl.
Under his guidance, the Cardinals had four players drafted in the 2024 National Football League Draft.
The watch list was created through a selection process by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc., taking into consideration each program’s graduation rate, Graduation Success Rate (GSR), commitment to service and charity in the community, projected success for the 2023 season and Academic Progress Rate (APR).
Coaches named to this year’s preseason watch list must have an APR higher than 980. Additionally, coaches in the first year with their current teams were not included as they were ineligible to receive The Dodd Trophy until their second year with their program.
