University of Louisville outside linebacker Trevon Young had successful surgery Thursday morning to repair a dislocated and fractured left hip after being injured in the Cardinals’ 27-21 win over Texas A&M Wednesday night in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
Surgery was performed by Dr. Philip Kregor at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., to relocate the hip back into place and fix the fracture. Young was carted off the field in the first quarter Wednesday night before being taken to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.
Young will remain under observation for the next couple of nights before being transported back to Louisville.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Young played all 13 games for the Cardinals. He finished the year with 32 tackles and was second on the squad with 8.5 sacks, including a pair of 3.0 sack performances in wins over Wake Forest and Boston College.
