The University of Louisville women’s basketball team earned the No. 3 seed in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship and faces No. 14-seed BYU in its initial game on Saturday on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. in Tampa, Fla.

The Cardinals are advancing to their 18th NCAA Tournament in school history, their fifth straight and seventh under head coach Jeff Walz. Louisville owns a 22-17 all-time mark in the NCAA Tournament, boasting an 18-6 record under Walz. Louisville has reached the Sweet 16 five times and advanced to the NCAA Final Four twice in the last six tournament appearances.

Louisville has produced a 25-6 record in its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, compiling a 12-4 mark in the league for third in the standings. It’s the fifth-consecutive season the program has registered 20 wins in the year and also double-digit conference wins.

Earning the No. 3 seed for the third time in program history (previously 2009 and 2014), Louisville has faced BYU once in program history. Louisville posted an 80-54 win over the Cougars on March 17, 2007, in Los Angeles. Angel McCoughtry scored a game-high 24 points, and Jazz Covington added 14 in the victory.

Ticket information for the NCAA Tournament will be available at a later time on Tuesday.  The Cards will hold an OPEN practice on Friday March 20th from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. that will be free to fans.
