13-0…

And I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon, Cardinal fans.  The WBB team dominated rival, Kentucky on Sunday afternoon in front of almost 5,871 fans in Lexington… I’d say about 200 donned the color red in hostile territory.

The Cards are now on 2 game winning streak vs the Cats.  UK had won the 5 meetings prior to that.  The Cards were clearly the more physical team in the 2017 meet and its talent is a national best.

Louisville would come out firing, making 50% of their attempts from the field and beyond 3.   Kentucky, not so bad themselves, they were 46.2% from the field and 40% beyond 3 but the Cards doubled up in rebounds 10 vs 5 and took 7 more shot attemps, making 4 of them.   That’d be good enough for a 23-16 lead after 1 quarter.  Asia Durr had 7 points in 9 minutes of play.   Card’s defense held UK’s leading scorer to 2 points for the quarter (1-4, 0-2 beyond 3) in all 10 minutes.

The second quarter would be the biggest difference maker.  Louisville’s defense held Kentucky to 23% shooting while still managing to make 45% of their own.   Cards turned the Cats over 6 times in the second quarter and scored 16 off of it.  They’d finish with 12 more second chance points and 10 more in the paint over Kentucky.

Five Cardinals scored in double figures.  Asia Durr, had a day.. 12-22 on shooting from the field, 6-11 beyond 3 for 32 total points… only 2 were attempted and made at the line.  Sam Fuehring finished with a double double 10pts, 10 rbs.   Myisha Hines-Allen had a good 18 and 9 rebounds (she missed all 4 attempts from the line).

All in all,

The Cards remain undefeated on the season and are still the #3 ranked team in the country.   They’ll face Air Force on Wednesday (12/20) in Colorado and take a break for Christmas.   They’ll travel to and play Georgia Tech 8 days later and NC State before the New Year.  #BeatAirForce #BeatGT #BeatNCState

You’ll be able to welcome the Cards back to the ‘Ville in 2018 when they face the Duke Blue Devils at the Yum! Center on January 4, 2018. Its a Thursday at 7PM.  Be there, #Cardnation #BringaCardinalfriend #BeatDuke
